RYA Practical Courses
When we are starting a course from Kettering, we usually start from the jetty indicated below:
We will meet at 10 am on the first day of your course and 9am thereafter if you’re staying ashore. We are usually on the water until 5pm each day except the final day of a 5 day course, where we usually end by 3pm.
Most courses have one night sail and we usually do this on Thursday evenings where we finish at 9.30pm.
For the Coastal Skipper we are usually away for 6 whole days with no staying ashore.
- 2 full changes of clothes in the outdoor style (quick drying and warm, no cotton), use the layer approach.
- Undies and a couple of extra thermal tops
- Non marking wellies and deck shoes
- Waterproofs (walking ones would be grand)
- Sunglasses,
- Sun hat and Beanie
- Waterbottle
- Head torch if you have one
- Toiletries and towel
- Sleeping bag (I’ll supply pillow and sheets)
- Book for reading (to relax)
- Ear plugs might help you sleep on a windy anchorage
Please let me know if you have any dietary requirements or preferences well before your course (I’m a vegetarian so can cater for that easily).
Please wear non marking shoes for your course and a head torch would be handy if we are out at night, but isn’t compulsory.
Please let me know if you are running late any day on 0410 059 070 and also let me know as soon as possible if you need to leave early at any point during the week so that we can plan around these things.
Please be well rested before your course and the more homework you can do in advance of the course, the more you will get out of it.
In the mean time, please don’t hesitate to contact me if you need any further information.
All the best,
Jason Cummings
