We meet each day at 9am sharp on the days of the course at the entrance to Warringah Aquatic Centre (Please do not pay entry).

We start sharp and break at 10:30am, 12noon for lunch and 3:30pm and finish sharp at 5pm on both days. Snacks and tea and coffee are available, but you will need to bring lunch with you as options are severely limited.

On day 1 we cover Responsibility and Duty of Care; Hypothermia and cold shock; Weather Forecasting; Heavy Weather and Setting up your boat. We also aim to do a live flare drill where everyone sets off a flare!

On day 2 we spend the morning until lunch time in the pool working with lifejackets and a liferaft. We cover Personnal Safety; Communications and GMDSS and Search and Rescue in the afternoon before sitting the  paper to end the day.

Candidates should bring pen and paper, lunch and to get the most out of the in water session, we recommend wearing full wet weather gear as if on a boat on a cold, dark and stormy night (this should include lifejacket and tethers. Candidates should bring a towel and a warm change of clothes for after this session as they usually get very cold.
